SINGAPORE — August 12, 2025 — WeRide (Nasdaq: WRD), a global leader in autonomous driving technology, announced that its Founder and CEO, Dr. Tony Han, has been invited by the Singapore government to join the Steering Committee on Autonomous Vehicles (AV). The committee brings together leaders from the AV and public transport industries, union representatives, and various government bodies to guide the progressive rollout of AVs in Singapore — ensuring their safe integration into Singapore's land transport system, creating new jobs and improving everyday connectivity for residents. WeRide and Waymo are the only two international AV enterprises represented on the committee.

In his role, Dr. Han will serve as a key figure in shaping Singapore's national policies, operational standards, and technical roadmaps for autonomous driving. His appointment highlights WeRide’s AV leadership and marks a major recognition of China’s smart mobility capabilities on the global stage.

"I am deeply honored to be invited to join Singapore’s Steering Committee on Autonomous Vehicles. This recognition not only reflects WeRide’s long-term commitment and innovation in autonomous driving, but also highlights the vital role Chinese enterprises play in advancing smart transportation worldwide. WeRide will continue to prioritize a technology-driven approach, leveraging our extensive global deployment experience, and work together with various progressive governments and partners to accelerate the development and deployment autonomous mobility solutions," said Dr. Tony Han, Founder and CEO of WeRide.

WeRide has built a strong presence in Singapore, with multiple AV deployments across vehicle types. In November 2024, WeRide’s Robosweeper S6 and Robosweeper S1 obtained Singapore’s T1 and M1 autonomous driving licenses. Within just one week, both products were successfully deployed along Marina Coastal Drive and at the Esplanade, launching Singapore’s first commercialized autonomous sanitation projects. Last month, WeRide’s Robobus began fully driverless operations at Resorts World Sentosa, becoming the first autonomous vehicle in Southeast Asia to operate without a safety driver on board.
