Guangzhou, April 3rd, 2024 --** WeRide**, a global leader in autonomous driving technology, held a new robosweeper product launch event at Guangzhou International Biotech Island. The event unveiled WeRide's second autonomous driving sanitation product, the **Robosweeper S1 **(“1” refers to 1 ton), achieving **a remarkable feat of securing contracts immediately upon its release**. And the launch saw orders amounting to nearly ten million US dollars. WeRide Robosweeper S1 is the world's first Level 4 autonomous driving sanitation equipment capable of covering all scenarios on open roads. This initiative sounds the horn for a new wave of large-scale commercial deployment of WeRide's autonomous driving technology in the sanitation sector, with enormous commercial potential.

As WeRide's entry into multi-scenario sanitation applications, Robosweeper S1 is equipped with WeRide's mature autonomous driving software and hardware systems, boasting 360-degree perception capabilities and industry-leading planning and control abilities. To meet various demands in different scenarios, WeRide Robosweeper S1 offers three configuration versions: Air, Pro, and Max, comprehensively catering to the needs of diverse users and environments. With a compact length of only 2570mm (excluding brushes) and a minimum turning radius of 2700mm (outer dimension), it features a 400L water tank and a 240L garbage bin. With a single charge, it can operate on an area of up to 120,000m². WeRide Robosweeper S1 can be effortlessly deployed in scenes such as parks, sidewalks, greenways, non-motorized lanes, delivering efficient and high-quality unmanned sweeping and dust suppression services. Together with the WeRide Robosweeper S6, deployed on urban main roads, it forms a comprehensive, pure unmanned sanitation solution covering traffic arteries, secondary roads, and auxiliary lanes.

The cutting-edge intelligent-driving solution developed by Lenovo Vehicle Computing and WeRide is based on Lenovo’s recently unveiled autonomous driving domain controller, AD1, built on the NVIDIA DRIVE Thor platform featuring the new Blackwell architecture designed for transformer and generative AI workloads. The system is trained on NVIDIA’s state-of-the-art data center AI solutions.

The AD1 will be integrated on the WeRide One, a highly compatible autonomous driving solution platform, for use in a wide range of urban-centered target use cases. 

WeRide One consists of a full stack of industry-leading application software, a flexible set of hardware and a comprehensive infrastructure software platform. The solution features technical characteristics such as vehicle specification requirements, functional safety, redundant safety design, fusion, and scalability.

Lenovo Vehicle Computing and WeRide Forge a Strategic Partnership, using NVIDIA DRIVE Thor Platform to Accelerate Autonomous Driving

Singapore, 11th Dec, 2023 -- WeRide, a leading global Level 4 autonomous driving technology company, officially announced that it has successfully obtained the Milestone Testing Regime Level 1 License for Autonomous Vehicles (AV) on Public Roads (referred to as "M1 License") and the T1 Assessment License for AVs on Public Paths (referred to as "T1 License") from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore. With these licenses, **WeRide's Robobus will be able to conduct tests on a larger scale on public roads in Singapore**, covering important areas such as One North and the National University of Singapore.

With this achievement, **WeRide becomes the first and, to date, the only technology company globally to simultaneously hold autonomous driving permits in China, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Singapore**.

It is reported that the conditions for obtaining the M1 License in Singapore are extremely stringent. The assessment covers multiple dimensions, including basic autonomous driving functions, static obstacle recognition, dynamic obstacle avoidance, redundancy in vehicle control by safety driver, overall vehicle safety performance, and more. Vehicles must accurately and flawlessly complete the mentioned tasks within test facilities that highly replicate the urban road traffic scenarios in Singapore. Additionally, the Singapore authorities have exceptionally high safety requirements, making this license highly prestigious.

From the arrival of WeRide's Robobus at the Centre of Excellence for Testing and Research of Autonomous Vehicles in Singapore (CETRAN) on August 28th to the successful acquisition of both M1 and T1 licenses, **WeRide accomplished this feat in just three months. This achievement sets a record for the speed at which an autonomous driving company obtained licenses in Singapore**. It highlights the company's international leadership in the Level 4 autonomous driving field.

Over the past decade, Singapore has experienced a staggering 66% increase in total domestic travel, leading to persistent challenges for the local government in terms of road network congestion and parking issues. Additionally, more than 30% of Singapore's urban transportation workforce is over 50 years old, indicating a rapidly aging population.

As a result, the development of high-density autonomous public transportation has become a crucial focus for the sustainable development of Singapore. This aligns seamlessly with WeRide's positioning as a provider of autonomous driving technology solutions and an operator of autonomous driving transportation services. Looking back at the year 2023, WeRide has made remarkable progress both domestically and internationally. On July 3rd, after nearly two years of dedicated efforts of operating Robotaxi fleet in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), **WeRide was granted the first autonomous driving license in the UAE, announced by the UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum**. This is the first national-level autonomous driving license in the Middle East and even globally. It signifies that all of WeRide's autonomous driving vehicles can undergo road tests and operations on public roads throughout the entire UAE.

On November 17th, WeRide received the notice to launch a commercial operation of fully driverless Robotaxi from Beijing Intelligent Connected Vehicle Policy Piolt Zone, which is called “driverless inside the vehicle and remote monitoring outside the vehicle" stage. This means **WeRide can provide a fare-charing service of Robotaxis with no safety driver on board to the public in Yizhuang, Beijing**. This marks a significant acceleration in the company's large-scale commercialization.

During the discussion and exchange session, Ambassador FLOR mentioned that Germany is currently facing the problems of aging labor force and labor shortage in areas such as public transportation, environment sanitation, and intra-city delivery. She acknowledged that WeRide's autonomous driving technology and products are conducive to alleviating and solving these problems. Meanwhile, She noted that Germany is actively promoting the application of green energy, and the autonomous driving vechicles that are powered by electricity are also an important component of this green strategy.

Tony Han, the founder and CEO of WeRide, highly agreed with this and shared his views. He pointed out that in the automotive technology field, autonomous driving companies like WeRide has strong software and algorithm capabilities, while German OEMs and Tier 1 companies have a solid manufacturing foundation and strong supply chain management capabilities. WeRide has been actively expanding into overseas markets. Among them, Germany is an important stop on the WeRide's global business blueprint. The company announced in May 2022 on getting strategic investment from the German company Bosch, the world's leading Tier 1 in automotive industry. In April 2023, the full stack advanced driving assistance solution jointly developed by WeRide and Bosch was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show, fully demonstrating the technical advantages of both parties. It can provide advanced driving functions, integrated driving and parking functions, and basic auxiliary driving functions such as driving safety, comfort, and lighting. In addition, the computing platform with high computing power supports "shadow mode" closed-loop data iteration, continuously improving product performance.


WeRide established a branch in Stuttgart, Germany at the beginning of 2023, and formed a local team to actively promote cooperation with local governments and enterprises. The visit of Ambassador FLOR and her delegation has demonstrated WeRide's international brand awareness, effectively promoting the company's further commercial expansion and landing in Germany, thereby bringing more new smart and autonomous travel options to local citizens.

Beijing, November 17, 2023 -- WeRide received the notice to launch a commercial pilot operation of fully driverless Robotaxi from Beijing Intelligent Connected Vehicle Policy Piolt Zone (hereinafter referred to as “Pilot Zone”), which is called “driverless inside the vehicle and remote monitoring outside the vehicle" stage. This means WeRide can now provide a charging service of fully driverless Robotaxis to the public in Yizhuang, Beijing.   

Since being approved to carry out driverless road test in the Pilot Zone in October 2022, WeRide has gradually got the permits to carry out “unmanned remote stage” demonstration application, high-speed road testing to and back from the airport, and now the commercial pilot operation, marking a leading development speed in the autonomous driving industry.

After the service is open to the public, citizens can hail a WeRide's Robotaxi within the designated area via WeRide Go App and view the estimated cost in real time. The Robotaxis will arrive at the designated pick-up point, and passengers need to verify their identity by scanning the QR code before getting in the car. The service scope of WeRide's Robotaxis covers popular destinations such as core subway stations, residential areas, key business districts, office and industrial parks, etc., with a total of 242 pick-up and drop-off stops. One Robotaxi can serve 1-3 passengers at a time, operating from 9:00 am to 17:00 pm.

WeRide has always been a leader in the area of Robotaxi. In November 2018, WeRide, in collaboration with Guangzhou Baiyun Taxi Group, launched China's first Robotaxi. In November 2019, WeRide launched the nation's first commercial Robotaxi service in Guangzhou. To date, WeRide has completed more than 1,400 days of commercial Robotaxi operation without any proactive accidents.

WeRide's rich experience on Robotaxi operation has also been applied overseas, providing a strong foundation for the company's global expansion. In November 2021, WeRide and its UAE partner Bayanat launched Robotaxi services on Yas Island and Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, bringing a new travel experience to local citizens and tourists. So far, they have completed nearly 20,000 customer orders and won unanimous praise from local users.

Based on WeRide's solid technical capabilities and high product and service quality, on July 3 this year, the Prime Minister of the UAE announced that the UAE's first autonomous driving test license was issued to WeRide, which is the first national-level driverless license in the Middle East and even in the world.

WeRide received approval to launch a paid service of fully driverless Robotaxis in Beijing

On November 15, as the first self-driving fleet to land in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, WeRide's Robotaxis successfully completed public trial operations for a month and a half. The company will continue its Robotaxi service in Kangbashi District of Ordos, a city in Inner Mongolia, bringing a brand-new ride-hailing experience to local citizens.

This milestone signifies that WeRide is continuously empowering the project of Ordos New Energy Intelligent and Connected Transportation Demonstration Zone with its leading autonomous driving technology and rich commercialization experience. This project is led by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Ordos New Energy Development and Utilization Co., Ltd.

WeRide's Robotaxi fleet in Ordos has 42 stops, covering the main area of Kangbashi District. The company will continue to expand the oepration area and add more popular stops until the whole area of Kangbashi District is covered.

Equipped with various sensors such as lidars, blind spot lidars and high-precision cameras, WeRide's Robotaxi has a 360-degree sensing capability within 200 meters, meeting the needs of all-day, all-weather and all-scenario operation.

Unlike traditional taxis which stop by when you wave your hands, WeRide's Robotaxis have fixed pick-up and drop-off stops. Passengers can have a free ride after making a reservation via the "Ordos Warm City Smart Travel" WeChat mini program.

“We also have a fusion perception service provided by the cloud infrastructure platform, which utilizes the advantages of a wide range of data sources and ultra-visionary data acquisition capabilities. This platform provides ultra-visionary multi-source fusion perception data for the vehicles, including real-time signal light data, which improves the driving safety in the border scenarios." Ordos Intelligent and Connected Project Engineer said.

In addition to monitoring real-time operation of driverless vehicles, the remote support center can also carry out remote extrication, providing an additional layer of safety for autonomous driving.

Under the grand vision of achieving carbon neutrality, WeRide's Robotaxis are all EVs, with no exhaust throughout their life cycle, providing a low-carbon and green mobility choice in the local community.

After a ride in WeRide's Robotaxi, the local citizens couldn't wait to share the novel experience with their families: "I really didn't expect that the car could drive itself, and its driving skill is better than mine. It's really incredible!"

Currently, the Ordos New Energy Intelligent and Connected Transportation Demonstration Zone Project has opened 42 stops in Kangbashi District. And the operation hours are from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 14:30 p.m.-17:00 p.m. From Monday to Friday. In its trial operations, WeRide's Robotaxis finished over 1,000 trips for over 2,000 passengers in the city.

By landing in Ordos, WeRide has not only expanded its business operation to Northwest China, but has also demonstrated its profound technical accumulation and strong commercial strength in the field of L4 autonomous driving. WeRide will continue to expand the commercial application of autonomous driving technologies and products in urban life scenarios, and deliver a new experience of future travel to residents of more cities.
