SAN FRANCISCO & GUANGZHOU, China – September 24, 2024 – WeRide, a global leading autonomous driving technology company, and Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: UBER), the world’s largest mobility and delivery technology platform, today announced a strategic partnership to bring WeRide’s autonomous vehicles onto the Uber platform, beginning in the United Arab Emirates.

The partnership is expected to launch first in Abu Dhabi later this year. A dedicated number of WeRide vehicles will be made available to consumers using the Uber app. After launch, when a rider requests a qualifying ride on the Uber app, they may be presented with the option to have their trip fulfilled by a WeRide autonomous vehicle. The partnership does not contemplate any launches in the United States or China.

WeRide currently operates the largest robotaxi fleet in the UAE, where residents can access its robotaxi services through the TXAI app. In addition, in July 2023, WeRide was granted the UAE’s first and only national license for self-driving vehicles, enabling it to test and operate its autonomous vehicles on public roads across the entire country.

New Favorite in the Property Management Industry, WeRide's RoboSweeper S1 present at the Guangzhou International Smart Property Expo

On September 10, 2024, WeRide, in collaboration with the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone (referred to as "Hengqin Cooperation Zone"), officially launched the autonomous vehicle commercial pilot, commencing the fee-charged operation service for WeRide Robobus. This is a significant milestone as the second Robobus paid service in South China, while also representing the first batch of Robobus commercial operation projects since the establishment of the Hengqin Cooperation Zone.

Meanwhile, WeRide has officially obtained approval to conduct regular road tests in the Hengqin Cooperation Zonee for its Robobus with no steering wheel nor safety driver in the driving position. This lays a solid foundation for achieving purely driverless commercial operations. During the testing period, WeRide Robobus achieved zero safety incidents and manual interventions, fully demonstrating the maturity and solid tech of WeRide autonomous vehicles.

The Hengqin Cooperation Zone is located on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary and serves as an important hub connecting Macao with the mainland China, with the closest point to Macao being only 187 meters away. As a prominent feature of the cooperation zone's "Smart City + Intelligent Transportation Industry," WeRide Robobus has been conducting passenger-carrying demonstration tests in the cooperation zone since July 2023. To date, it has accumulated over 100,000 kilometers of autonomous driving and served more than 20,000 passengers, continuously providing residents and tourists of Guangdong and Macao with convenient, green, and intelligent transportation experiences.

The approval to commercially operate paid services in Hengqin marks WeRide's second Robobus paid service in South China. On December 30, 2023, WeRide, in partnership with Guangzhou Bus Group, launched the nation's first commercial paid operation service for Robobus, which has now conducted 10 operational routes. The continuous commercial implementation reaffirms the maturity and replicability of the WeRide business model and our remarkable speed in commercialization.

The 2nd City in South China! WeRide Secures Approval to Commercially Operate Robobus in Hengqin

Recently, WeRide in collaboration with Guangdong Huadalong City Management Service Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Huadalong") has jointly initiated the commercial implementation of WeRide's Robosweeper S1 in Shantou, Guangdong. This marks Shantou's first L4-level commercial autonomous sanitation project and the debut of WeRide's S1 Robosweeper in Shantou and the greater eastern Guangdong region.

Since June this year, WeRide Robosweeper S1 has undergone safety tests at Chaoren Wharf Square in Shantou, and it will carry out regular driverless sanitation operations covering both day and night throughout the Haibin Road area after the trial operation concludes. Located on the west section of Haibin Road, Chaoren Wharf connects the historical cultural axis of the old town and is a popular landmark showcasing the port characteristics of Shantou.

The debut of WeRide Robosweeper S1 at Chaoren Wharf in Shantou has enabled cooperation between traditional sanitation and human-machine collaboration, attracting attention from several media outlets. In a report by the Shantou Daily, sanitation worker Cheng Longchao told reporters: "This vehicle is not afraid of high temperatures or cold, improving the quality of sanitation work and reducing the intensity of cleaning operations, thus lessening the burden on us sanitation workers." As a coastal area, Chaoren Wharf often faces harsh weather conditions such as high temperatures and strong winds. WeRide Robosweeper S1 is undaunted by extreme environments, able to automatically awaken, follow preset routes for patrolling and cleaning, and complete automatic waste disposal, becoming a powerful assistant for outdoor sanitation workers.

During the trial operation, project partner Huadalong also praised the cleaning effect of WeRide Robosweeper S1. Project manager Li Jian mentioned in an interview with a reporter from the Shantou Daily: "This autonomous driving sanitation vehicle has shown very good trial results." He stated that there are plans to further deploy autonomous sanitation equipment to wider areas such as Haibin Road, Jinhuan Road, and Yuejin Road, contributing to improving the quality and efficiency of Shantou's sanitation work.

Earlier, on May 15, local time in Paris, the Renault Group officially announced its future autonomous driving strategy. As a key part of this strategy, WeRide will deeply engage in Renault Group's exploration and practice in the field of public transportation for low-carbon travel, with both parties collaborating to launch a series of autonomous low-emission microcirculation Robobus to meet the growing demand for green public transportation across Europe.

Mr. FOURRIERE praised WeRide's international progress and inquired about the methods of cooperation advancement in various international markets, as well as WeRide's development plans in France and throughout Europe. Consul General of France in Guangzhou, Mr. Sylvain FOURRIERE, Led a Delegation to Visit Autonomous Driving Company WeRide

Singapore, June 2024 - WeRide, after a month of meticulous preparation and trial operations, launched its autonomous Robobus, departed from the Equarius Hotel at Resorts World Sentosa with its first group of passengers, heading towards Resorts World Sentosa. This marks the official opening of Singapore's first publicly accessible, L4-level autonomous Robobus route for passenger operations. It is also Singapore's first service integrating manual shuttle passenger transport with autonomous micro-circulation shuttle minibus, and the first to connect a cluster of five-star hotels with a luxury resort through autonomous driving services.

The shuttle route, jointly launched by WeRide, Resorts World Sentosa, and EZ Buzz Pte. Ltd, spans 1.2 kilometers with 4 stops along the way, taking approximately 12 minutes to complete. Hotel guests and tourists can board the Robobus at the nearest stop. Since obtaining Singapore’s M1 and T1 public road licenses for autonomous vehicles in December 2023, WeRide has rapidly deployed the Robobus, setting a new industry benchmark for implementation speed.

Singapore Launches Autonomous Shuttle Service, WeRide Robobus Becomes a New Attraction at Resorts World Sentosa

Dongguan, July 2024 — WeRide, a global leader in autonomous driving technology, announced the official launch of an intelligent sanitation project for municipal roads in DONGGUAN BINHAIWAN BAY AREA. This project indicates the inaugural demonstration of "autonomous driving + new energy" mechanized unmanned intelligent sanitation and marks Dongguan's first commercial deployment of L4-level Robosweepers on open roads. It is the global debut of the WeRide Robosweeper S1 in a large-scale application, representing a significant milestone in our journey.

The Dongguan Binhaiwan unmanned intelligent sanitation project covers nine urban roads with complex conditions. The unmanned sanitation fleet, consisting of the Robosweeper S6 and the Robosweeper S1, will perform unmanned sanitation operations on key routes such as Binhaiwan Avenue (from Donghai Road to Xinyi section), Dongwan Avenue (from Fuhai Road to Donghai Road section), Zhenhai Road, Xinghai Road, and Zhonghai Road. The operation covers various scenarios including motorways, non-motorized lanes, sidewalks, safety islands, and bridge surfaces, with a service area exceeding 860,000 square meters.
